Hosted by Prue & Mathieu, who bring a professional service and hosting style shaped by decades in hospitality — Prue as a chef, Mathieu as a sommelier. Expect thoughtful, detail-oriented hosting throughout your stay, delivered with a quiet, easy warmth.

Both guest outdoor spaces — the courtyard and the elevated balcony — are entirely private and for guest use only.

PRIVATE EAST–FACING BALCONY DECK
A hardwood deck overlooking the garden and regional views beyond. The back terrace and king bedroom share this outlook, as do the living and dining areas — gather around the dining table and watch the morning unfold at a slower-than-usual pace.

LEAFY GUEST COURTYARD
A private front deck, shaded by trees, featuring:

  • Vintage outdoor hot rainwater bathtub, surrounded by trees (Epsom salts provided)

  • Wood-fired pizza oven for exclusive guest use — DIY pizza kits supplied

PROPERTY LAYOUT
& ACCESS

The unique 'cottage' property is a single building set into the side of a hill, consisting of two separate, entirely self-contained accommodations on different levels — each with its own separate private street entry and private outdoor areas.

Guests occupy the upper accommodation, conveniently accessed via a private leafy entrance, then descending a few sandstone steps that lead to the guest accommodation's front door.

The hosts' residence is located on the lower level, further into the hillside, accessed via a designated, additional private entrance. Guests will not typically encounter the hosts during their stay — interaction only occurs if assistance is requested or in-house services have been arranged prior, or on the rare occasion you cross paths outside the property, in which case expect a friendly smile and warm welcome.

Guests privately access the cottage through antique orange garden gates, which lead onto the private guest courtyard stairs.

Please note: there is no guest access to the private garden and host residence below.

Guests sleep up to four (most comfortable for two), and the cottage is recommended for guests aged 12+.

DOG FRIENDLY

Well-behaved dogs are very welcome at MontPierre, by pre-approval.

The cottage is best suited to smaller, lower-energy breeds that are happy to relax indoors — lower-shedding breeds are preferred. Please enquire when booking your stay about your dog's suitability.
